Entering my Throne of Glass Era… 👑

Unless you’ve been living under a particularly whimsical rock, you’ve probably seen the news that Sarah J. Maas is releasing the next two ACOTAR books, with ACOTAR 6 landing on 27th October and ACOTAR 7 following on 12th January 2027.

Now, if you’re anything like me and still relatively new to the reading world, or you’ve only dipped a toe into the Maasverse so far, then welcome, you are among friends. Plenty of readers are already deep into their rereads of this enormous 16-book universe, while the rest of us are standing at the bottom of the mountain, wondering how the hell we’re going too climb up!

To be clear, you do not have to read every single Sarah J. Maas book across all three series to be ready for the new ACOTAR releases. That said, if you’re also the kind of person who knows full well they’ll be hit with a serious case of bookish FOMO if they skip anything, then yes, the full journey is waiting, & it is not a short one.

The three series making up the Maasverse are:

  • Throne of Glass – 8 books

  • ACOTAR – currently 5 books, soon to be 7

  • Crescent City – 3 very chunky books

There are loads of gorgeous reading order & timeline graphics floating around online, and some of my favourites can be found on Instagram from @JanaandBooks, @TwinReads_, & @TheAllynVerse.

With the next ACOTAR book releasing in late October, that gives us just over seven months to tackle 16 pretty hefty books. Which feels mildly unhinged when you consider that, before last year, I probably read no more than three books in an entire year!

As you can probably tell from the title, I’m starting with Throne of Glass as my official entry point into this new reading era. Full disclosure though: I’ve already started, and I’m also listening to the audiobook alongside it. Fantasy books do love to throw a hundred names, kingdoms, and places at you before you’ve even had time to settle in, so hearing it all out loud definitely helps. For me, audiobooks make the world feel richer, the characters more memorable, and the whole experience much more immersive.

Basically, if I’m going to enter my Throne of Glass era, I may as well do it properly!
