Kill the Puckers by Sam Evans

Kill the Puckers was such an entertaining read. Dark, clever & far more fun than a story about murder probably should be. To be clear, I’m not saying murder is fun, but when it comes to these particular “victims”, my level of sympathy was, let’s say, limited.

The story follows Alyssa, a psychiatrist whose cousin Katie is assaulted by a group of hockey players. After the justice system fails her completely, Alyssa decides to take matters into her own hands. Her plan begins with getting close to the team through their new head coach, “Mark the mark,” & from there the story becomes an addictive mix of revenge, suspense, tension, with a dollop of smut on the side.

What I really enjoyed was how easy this book was to fly through. It’s well paced, never drags, and keeps the momentum going from start to finish. As the worst members of the team begin dropping like flies, the story stays exciting while still delivering plenty of dark humour and satisfying moments along the way.

Overall, Kill the Puckers was a sharp, addictive, and thoroughly entertaining read with an important message at its core. If you like your thrillers fast-paced & a tiny bit wicked, this one is well worth picking up.
