The Woman in Seat 13 by Ellie Midwood

This was a very gripping & enjoyable story!

We follow the MFC Jess, as she tries to piece her life back together after being the sole survivor of a plane crash. She’s finally starting to build some independence when, surprise! It becomes painfully clear someone is watching her. And not in a cute, mysterious way. In a “this person actively wants me dead” kind of way.

Honestly, there were moments I wanted to shake her! Jess deciding to keep all the increasingly terrifying incidents to herself defies all reasoning to me. I’d be at the police station screenshots, CCTV, printed emails, possibly a PowerPoint presentation! The whole nine yards!

That said, the author does a brilliant job of making everyone in Jess’s life look suspicious. No one feels completely safe. You’re constantly side eyeing the entire roster, convinced they’ve all got something to hide.

As for the big reveal… I did clock it before it happened. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it didn’t hit as hard as I wanted it to. I love being completely blindsided in a story & this one didn’t quite manage that. It didn’t ruin the experience, but that extra punch would’ve taken it up a level.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this one! Happy to say that I don’t find any of it relatable!
