Review
I read / listened to this in tandem with Tower of Dawn so the experience blended somewhat. Both of these books are around 700 pages each & there is A LOT to cover! It did feel like a slog at times but the story is so good!
Now, I’m not the best at remembering plot points & all the little details. My note taking is also a little iffy! But what I do know is that I thoroughly enjoyed this & I need to finish Tower of Dawn so I can get Kingdom of Ash read / listened too now!!
The end of Empire of Storms made my heart ache!! Like…now what, you know what I mean?
As much as I love him, I don’t want to go back to Chaol & Yrene. I want to go back to Aelin & the overly masculine Rowan! To all the pretty people as there clearly are no bad looking people in the Maas-verse!
I’d comment more on the other characters & plot points but right now my brain is mush & I can barely remember their names 🤪 Just know a lot happens & it’s not a book you can skip!
The only real actual down side for me was the length of. Based on what happened, I feel Maas could have shaved off at least 250 pages. Yes A LOT happens, but some “scenes” felt quite drawn out & long winded. It could have been more snappy! Which would have saved me several hours!
That being said, this was exciting, detailed & leaves you on one hell of a cliffhanger! Now, I need to go & finish Tower of Dawn!
